WSLCB to Consider Recreational Home Cultivation Jeff Cole Washington State September 21, 2017 Washington State’s Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) has announced that it will hear public comment on the issue of home cultivation for recreational use at its upcoming regular meeting at 10:00 A.M. October 4, 2017. Limited seating is available at WSLCB’s 3000 Pacific Avenue location, so WSLCB encourages interested parties to submit written comments by US postal mail (PO Box 34080, Olympia, WA 98504) or by email (rules@lcb.wa.gov) by October 11, 2017. The WSLCB will provide a link on its Board Meetings page to view the live session. WSLCB has prepared three models based on input from other states that allow limited recreational home cultivation. The first involves a tightly regulated system requiring a permit, security, plant traceability and a limit of only four plants per household. The second option removes plant traceability, still requires a permit and allows local governments more control. The third option leaves Washington as-is, prohibiting home cultivation without a medical authorization, which would maintain Washington’s status as the only recreational-use state (Rec state) prohibiting recreational home cultivation.
